Horror Heads, A New Movie Compared To Hereditary And The Babadook Has Hit Netflix

Netflix leans into horror with the new thriller Run Rabbit Run. Starring Legacy's Sarah Snook, the film is drawing comparisons to other horror heavyweights such as Hereditary and The Babadook despite mixed reviews.

The film stars Snook as a fertility doctor named Sara who notices strange behavior in her daughter Mia (Lily Latour). A young girl becomes convinced she has memories of another life, leading Sarah to confront what she knows about life and death.

Given the subject matter, it's not hard to see where this comparison to other mother horrors comes from. The Guardian wrote in its review: "Of course, Snook is generally excellent, here he plays the sultry and scheming Shiv Roy from Inheritance as another madman, but even as his appearance takes a deranged turn, he is reminiscent of Toni Collette's Hereditary. .

Meanwhile, Collider's review pointed out, "The whole experience is reminiscent of previous Australian horror films like The Babadook and more recently Legacy in the way it tries to combine the petrified elements with something more personal."

Total Film gave the film three stars and wrote that it is a "mother-daughter thriller". "Together, Snook and LaTorre form an astonishing force with often electric chemistry," wrote our reviewer James Mottram.

Other reviews of the film have been more mixed, currently holding just a 35% critical and audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Despite lukewarm critical response, the new thriller is climbing the streaming charts despite its recent release on Netflix. It is currently number eight worldwide, behind other Netflix originals such as Extraction 2 and The Perfect Find.
