Deadpool 3 Trailer Smashes Records, But Can The Movie Top $2 Billion At The Box Office?

Deadpool 3 Trailer Smashes Records, But Can The Movie Top $2 Billion At The Box Office?

Marvel released the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer during the Super Bowl and the video reached 365 million views online in the first 24 hours. That's enough to make Deadpool 3 the most-watched trailer of all time. The previous record holder was one some of you may know: another small comic book project called Spider-Man: No Way Home .

The trailer for Marvel's new multiverse megahit beat the other trailer for Sony-Marvel's multiverse megahit. That's why I wonder if Deadpool 3 has a chance of breaking $2 billion at the box office. Marvel definitely needs a win after their latest release, and it's not just about the money. Minor failures can result .

I assumed that Deadpool and Wolverine would make at least a billion dollars long before the trailer was released. Deadpool fans have been waiting for this movie to be released for years and will watch it even without a trailer and even if the reviews say it's bad.

But the first trailer for Deadpool and Wolverine has already received a surprising response. It has 10 million more views than No Way Home , the most viewed trailer to date.

“Spider-Man” grossed nearly $2 billion at the box office: $1.91 billion during its initial run and another $9.3 million for the reboot a few months later. Sony wanted to reach the $2 billion mark, a number previously reserved for the films “Avatar ” and “Avengers.” But the reboot wasn't enough to surpass it.

I want to point out that No Way Home came out at a time when some moviegoers weren't comfortable returning to the theater. He still made about $2 billion.

But by July 2024, when Deadpool 3 comes out, that won't be a problem anymore. People will likely flock to see Deadpool and Wolverine when they come to theaters.

Plus, the screening of Deadpool 3 alone should be enough to convince even casual Marvel fans to go to the cinema. This makes “No Way Home” a film worth seeing. The first trailer has only scratched the surface of what's in store for Deadpool & Wolverine in terms of a Marvel film in the Fox universe.

The original Deadpool film grossed $782 million at the box office in 2016, a strong showing for a non-Marvel film. The MCU is rated R. At this point, Marvel's MCU was already huge. Deadpool 2 reached almost the same level in 2018, grossing $734 million. The relaunch came a few months later when Once Upon a Deadpool grossed another $51 million.

I would also like to add that so far none of the Phase 5 and 6 Marvel films have reached the billion dollar mark. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness came closest with a total of $955 million.

In conclusion, Deadpool & Wolverine is Marvel's only theatrical release of the year. Another reason why Marvel fans flock to theaters immediately after the film's release.

With that in mind, $2 billion seems quite achievable. It won't even be about money for Marvel. They need this win for the MCU after the mediocre years we've seen since Endgame .

With Deadpool 3 , Marvel can prove that it can tell great superhero stories, stories that people want to see in theaters. Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) might be right. He could become the Marvel Jesus the MCU needs.
