The ‘Suitable Flesh Reviews Cant Get Enough Of Heather Graham And A ‘Randy Demon In This Horror Throwback Film
Heather Graham stars as an obsessive therapist in the old-school horror version of Appropriate Flesh , and critics are raving about director Joe Lynch's twisted thriller. The film was produced by 80s horror master Stuart Gordon until his death in 2020, and the re-animator director's influence seems to be felt throughout the project.
Filled with Lovecraftian body-changing horror, Graham pulls double duty in The Accidental Body as her heroine, Elizabeth, goes on a wild journey of sexual rediscovery and beheading.

A tradition that is exemplified by the presence of Barbara Crampton in the cast and the title page of a medical facility called Miskatonic. Yes, this movie is set in Lovecraft Country. Old school.

Lovecraft fans will find a treasure trove of Easter eggs to mine here. But Lynch seamlessly reflects the same dialogue as Stewart Gordon's Lovecraft adaptation, which is more touching. From the opening frames there is a lot of attention to detail. It's not just the settings or the characters that impress the late Gordon's horror films, but the aesthetics, the tropes and everything in between. For his erotic horror thriller, Lynch brings his '90s penchant for soft lighting and saxophone music, and pays homage to horror tropes like sandwich-eating hospital morgue workers.

With an ominous nod (which appears to be a direct nod to the re-animators) serving as the opening weapon, the film quickly launches into a full sprint through the second and third acts. The devil dances on bodies at a leisurely pace, giving the various cast members a chance to flex their acting muscles (Graham excels, especially sipping brandy as the devil discovers the pleasures of a woman's body). It all culminates in a violent and bloody showdown at the hospital, where an imprisoned Elizabeth faces her partner (played by Re-Animator star and Flesh producer Barbara Crampton) in a showdown involving the bloodthirsty undead, given to Graham: the opportunity to swing the gun. with wild ones dancing.
