A trailer (also called a preview video or teaser) is a commercial advertisement, especially for a feature film, that will later be shown in theaters. This is the result of creative and technical work... Selected excerpts from the film are announced in the trailer. There is a series.
Since the purpose of [these advertisements] is to attract viewers to the film, these clips are usually taken from the most interesting, humorous or meaningful parts of the film, but in a concise manner and without causing any spoilers at all.
To do this, the scenes do not have to be in the order in which they appear in the film. [This advertisement] must be of the maximum length permitted by the CTF, which is less than 2 minutes 30 seconds. Each studio or distributor is allowed to exceed this period once per year if deemed necessary for a particular film.
There are dozens of companies in the United States, most of them in Los Angeles and New York, that specialize in creating movie trailers. The trailer can be produced by an agency (e.g. The Cimarron Group, Mojo, The Ant Farm, Ben Cain, Aspect Ratio, Flyer Entertainment, Trailer Park, Buddha Jones), and the film itself is edited by the studio.
Since edited films do not currently exist, trailer editors work on a rush or daily basis. Thus, the trailer may contain footage that is not in the final film, or the trailer editor and the film editor may use different footage. Another common method is to include music in the trailer that is not on the film's soundtrack.
This is almost always necessary since trailers and teasers are created long before a composer is hired to score a film, sometimes a year before the film's release date, when the composer is usually the last composer working on the film.
The trailer tells the story of the film very succinctly to ensure maximum appeal. Since film marketing became a major industry ten years ago, trailers have become an excellent advertising medium, capable of making even bad films look good.
The main purpose of creating a trailer is to convey an interesting story that evokes emotions among moviegoers.
Most trailers have a three-act structure similar to feature films. They begin with an introduction (Act 1) that sets the stage for the story. The middle section (Act 2) moves the story forward and usually ends with a dramatic climax.
Act 3 usually contains strong "signature music" (either easily recognizable songs or powerful, large-scale orchestral pieces). This final act often contains a visual montage of the film's emotional and powerful moments, and may also include casting if there are big stars to help sell the film. »
