Jackson Hole Film Festival Launches Via Partnership With Hamptons Fest Organizers

EXCLUSIVE: The Jackson Hole International Film Festival will debut a new partnership with the Hamptons International Film Festival in Jackson, Wyoming, December 8-10.

The mountain town has long been a getaway spot for vacationers and outdoor enthusiasts, as well as home, at least seasonally, to numerous film industry figures. Among the latter is local resident Stewart Suna, former owner of New York production company Silvercup Studios, co-founder of the Hamptons Festival and creator of a new event in Jackson.

More than the deadline

The first screening will feature eight selected stories and documentaries
Hamptons artistic director David Nugent. The opening film will be the comedy I'll Be There, starring Edie Falco , Ginny Berlin, Kaylee Carter, Charlie Tahan and Bradley Whitford, with Falco and Jesse Eisenberger executive producing. The world premiere took place in the Hamptons last month.

“The film festival is a wonderful way to spark artistic imagination and contribute to community culture,” Suna said. "I can't think of a better way to start this year than with 'I'll Be Right .' by Brendan Walsh.

Other films on the list include American Fantasy , The Great Divide , The Snowy Society , Trees and Other Panics , Avenue of the Giants , The Taste of Things and They Called It Harmless Without a Castle . The films will be screened at the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson.

Expanding HamptonsFilm's presence in partnership with the like-minded tourism community has been a dream for many years,” said Anne Chasen, executive director of the Hamptons International Film Festival.

“As we launch our first three-day event, we hope to celebrate the art and science of filmmaking while exploring the magic of storytelling as a powerful tool for expanding our horizons,” said Jackson Executive Director Marnie Walsh. Along with Suna, who is president of Jackson Hole and president emeritus of the Hamptons, Jackson's board of directors will include Oscar-winning director Jimmy Chin and Emmy-nominated cinematographer Danny Moder.

The Wyoming community has also hosted cultural events such as the independent Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival, founded in 1991, also known as the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival.
