War Movie Legend And Korean War Veteran Michael Caine Announces Retirement From Acting
This is a good reminder that our Korean War veterans are aging, retiring, and may soon disappear altogether. Michael Caine has announced his departure from the BBC Radio 4 Best of Today podcast on 14 October 2023. The actor, who is now in his 90s, has repeatedly expressed his desire to retire, but this time he claims it is true.
Other films in development include Zulu, A Bridge Too Far and Harry Brown. In The Great Fugitive, Caine plays World War II veteran Bernard Jordan, who leaves his nursing home in England for the last time at age 89, on the 70th anniversary of the Normandy landings.
“I played the lead role and it got great reviews. The roles I'm looking to get now are older men - 90-year-old men, or maybe 85-year-old men, you know - and I thought I could do that too. "Well, do it." told the BBC. “I have a great review. What can I do to surpass them?
He may be right about acting, as his career spanned nearly 70 years. Cain, born Maurice Joseph Micklewhite Jr., served in the British Army during the Korean War and openly shared his experiences fighting the Chinese in the mountains of North and South Korea. He appeared on stage and screen after leaving the army in the 1950s and landed his first film role in 1956.

He won his second Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in 1999's Cedar House Rules. Caine has appeared in 160 films, was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 1993 and knighted in 2000.

Deadly Games will be available on Kindle and Audible on November 23, 2023, with the hardcover book shipping on December 5. The Great Escaper opened in the UK in October and is awaiting a US release date.
