Netflix Viewers Say White Supremacist Horror Film Might Be ‘scariest Movie Theyve Ever Seen

After the 2022 horror film The Soft and the Quiet arrived on US Netflix on May 1, many viewers took to social media to praise its "unwavering commitment to the fight against racism".

In writer-director Beth D'Araujo's indie script, an elementary school teacher (Stephanie Estes) hosts a gathering of like-minded white people, where an encounter with someone from her past sets off a chain of events. silent

A review on RogerEbert.com warned viewers when it first came out: “This is a movie few people will want to see twice, and if people of color choose to skip it for their own peace of mind, that's understandable.

“It is for white people to hear and see these things, not those who already know them from personal experience. And yet the film draws directly on its writer-director's own experiences with racism, giving it a clarity and relevance that is hard to come by. Ignore... If you're tired of watching this movie, it works."

The film has made a huge impact on fans since its release on Netflix, with one person tweeting :

"One of my favorite movies of 2022 that isn't POC IMHO everyone should see [in my opinion]," wrote another. "While not a 'light' watch, it pays off with its intrigue, ambition and unwavering commitment to anti-racism. Check it out today! You'll never forget it."

" Soft and Quiet is apparently on Netflix now and I just want to warn people how bad this movie is," said a third.

"I can't finish looking soft and quiet." How my blood boils…” wrote a fourth.

Fifth tweet. “Can't recommend enough. An incredibly daring film in both form and content… it blows your mind.

The film is not currently available on UK Netflix, but can be rented on Prime Video. Find out what else is on Netflix this month here.
