The average movie trailer these days does little more than it should: promote the movie. And it's quite normal, although a little sad. Many people refuse to even watch trailers for fear of getting hurt. We really want to see the movie!

But the first full trailer for Bones and All has arrived, and it's giving the Warriors team a need to reconsider. Leonard Cohen's dark, bass-heavy song "You Want Darkness" is a mini-video — cut to the beat of the song, the segments synchronized to the drum beat, recorded with a series of notes. Darkness and violence prevailed as Cohen sang "Lullaby to Suffering" lyrically and visually.

And blood. There is a lot of blood. Ultimately, Bones and All is a love story about teenage cannibals traveling through the Midwest; They spend the film eating their bodies and wiping the blood off their faces and fingernails. As Marin (Taylor Russell) confronts his inner hunger for human flesh, his new friend and lover Lee (Timathe Chalamet) must come to terms with his fate in life.

"I didn't know I had a license to kill and maim," Cohen sings, unsure of how far she'll go with her seagull-like cannibalistic ambitions. Meanwhile, Lee teaches him that killing is the name of the game as we watch him kill a man, draw blood from his chest in an abandoned shack, and contemplate his existence with the blood of a small victim spilling out. Spots on the cheeks.

We also see Chalamet and Russell cast: Mark Rylance, who plays Sally's mysterious old prosthetic. Michael Stolbarg, we meet Marin and Lee on a crazy ride; And a brief glimpse of a big star shouldn't spoil the role. (I'll let you find out for yourself. It's almost impossible to understand.)

If Bones and All had nothing to show for it but Leonard Cohen's music video, 2010's It's going to be one of the most compelling pieces of art in 2022. Fortunately for the film itself, The Daily Beast has a review of the film's Venice premiere. It is a "painful triumph of love" in itself.

Bones and Everything was broadcast on November 18 ahead of its nationwide release on November 23.
