Watch Cinderella Take Bloody Vengeance On Her Evil Stepsisters In Horror Movie Revamp

Cinderella, you have to go to the ball, and you have to attack a group of people.

Following in the footsteps of last year's Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey , Cinderella's Revenge (out April 26) takes beloved children's characters and reimagines their story in an adult-friendly way, as you can see in EW's exclusive trailer.

British director Andy Edwards described the film as a revival of a story that everyone knows in one way or another. "We have Cinderella, we have a wicked stepmother, we have two wicked children, and they treat her very badly," he explained. “But there are some unexpected twists and surprises. There's also sex and violence you might not expect. So there is something for everyone!

In this new episode, Cinders receives a special mask from her loving godmother that inspires her to rebel. "The idea is that Cinderella is an innocent character, so the mask is a way to turn her to the dark side," Edwards says. "Cinderella's revenge in the fairy tale is to succeed and marry the prince, but this includes suitably brutal physical revenge."

The film stars Lauren Sturken as Cinderella, the fairy godmother of Natasha Henstridge's character, best known for her role as an alien in the 1995 sci-fi horror film . "Spice," Edwards said of Henstridge . Theater of the 1990s. We talked about how he plays this character and that he is British. “But we decided it would be more interesting if I played Yellow and California. [It] adds another layer to the film."

Edwards filmed the film last spring in Britain, where two ancestral country houses and an amusement park maze were closed for the season. Well , this looks like a fun place to shoot.

"To be honest, I don't recommend making horror," says the director "I'm really excited to see my Kubrick/ Brilliant fantasy and show a still camera going through a maze. But the reality is you're on one side of the fence, and the person you're looking for is on the other side of the fence. The fence and you are probably a foot apart."

Cinderella's Revenge is one of the next movies to scare kids. Producers seem to be hoping to capture the public's imagination with Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey in 2022 as footage from the film has gone viral. In addition to Edwards' films, it also includes a list of upcoming attractions. A follower of Vinny . -Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 , Bambi: The Reckoning , Mickey's Mousetrap (where a certain imaginary mouse commits murder) and even the second Cinderella story filmed in the UK , Cinderella's Curse . Edwards said that he is aware of the next film, but believes that Cinderella could have a fairy-tale ending to both films.

"The indie horror world in the UK is very small, so I know a lot of people involved with The Curse of Cinderella and I recently met the director," he explains. “I said, let's show two films and show them back to back. So, there is competition, but there will be good competition. I think their versions will be completely different because the audience wants to see both. I will watch the same movie."

Cinderella's Revenge is written by Tom Jolliffe and directed by Jessica Mathis and Mark L. Lester Goth. The film stars Stephanie Lodge, Beatrice Fletcher, Megan Purvis and Darrell Griggs.
