Netflix Action Movie Based On True Story Already Has 96% On Rotten Tomatoes Months Before Release
Glenn Powell has a big year ahead of him in 2024 if his new movie Hit Man is anything to go by.
The actor who stole Top Gun. He appeared in the films Maverick and Anybut You and will return to our screens in Richard Linklater's fast-paced Netflix film.
In “Hit Man,” the 35-year-old plays a college professor and part-time pseudo-assassin who works for the police. But things change when Madison (Adria Arjona) hires him and his lies quickly get out of control. .
It's basically a mix of action, comedy, Glenn Powell, romance and more action that seems to be very popular where we come from.
The film is based on the true story of fictional murderer Gary Johnson, whose story was published in Texas Monthly magazine.
The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival last year to rave reviews. It currently has an impressive 96% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
The Guardian described the project as "very deep" and triumphant, while Variety said it was "full of beautiful moments" but lasted "too long."
Mashable suggested it could be the "deadliest comedy of 2024" and despite the fresh start, we can't wait.
Unfortunately, the hit movie is scheduled to premiere on the streaming platform on June 7, which means we had a long wait.
The official synopsis reads: “Glenn Powell plays Professor Gary Johnson, who works as a fake assassin for the New Orleans Police Department, from Oscar-nominated director Richard Linklater.
Gary has a supernatural talent for taking on different forms and personalities to capture unfortunate people in hopes of freeing himself from his enemies. He ventures into morally dubious territory when he finds himself attracted to one of these would-be criminals, a beautiful young woman named Madison. (Adria Aryona). .
When Madison falls for one of Gary's deadliest personalities, the darkly sexual Ron, their emotional relationship sets off a chain reaction of theatrics, deception, and escalating danger.
"Hit Man, co-written by Linklater and Powell and inspired by an incredible true story, is a clever existential comedy about identity."
Glenn wrote and directed an all-star cast that included Austin Amelio, Rita, Sanjay Rao, Molly Bernard and Evan Holtzman.
Speaking about Hit Man, Richard told Netflix: "It's about identity, self and feelings." But when it comes to the story, he's just a guy who gets in too deep.
"His feelings lead him in a direction where he cheats on someone he loves and becomes someone else." They have to deal with these consequences.
