Barbie Receives Rapturous First Reviews As Oppenheimer Cast Discuss The Atomic Bomb Movie News
Hollywood seems closer than ever to the center of the universe this week as the release of two of the year's biggest movies coincides with a historic holiday for the actors.
Anticipation reached a fever pitch before Christopher Nolan's Greta Gerwig and Oppenheimer Barbie exit on July 21.
Axios reports that tickets for the Margot Robbie-directed movie about the famous toy doll are already on sale in theaters in Texas, Washington and Atlanta this week.
Meanwhile, Oppenheimer star Matt Damon decided to join the film after promising his wife he would take a break from couples therapy.
The London premiere of Oppenheimer's was cut short because the cast left early to prepare for the SAG-AFTRA strike order, which began hours after the premiere.
The actors' union has joined the Writers Guild of America, which has been on strike since early May, demanding an increase in base salary and overtime wages and a guarantee that their jobs will not be replaced by artificial intelligence.

In her four-star review, film critic Clarice Loughrey of The Independent called Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer "the best work and revelation".
He said, "The film is designed to allow the audience to understand on an intellectual level the deep power and chaos that drives its main character to see himself as the 'world-destroying death' of the Hindu scriptures."
However, Loughrey adds , Oppenheimer "cannot enter that deep emotional space that can be overwhelming and hard to put into words. He is more aware of himself and how cinema creates its own reality."

Now that Barbenheimer is officially here, have you bought your tickets? If you've never seen a Barbie or Oppenheimer before and are still interested, here are a few things to keep in mind.
Barbie's runtime is 1 hour 54 minutes and Oppenheimer 3 hours. I'm not sure about your theater, but I had a hard time finding one with an interval long enough to start with Oppenheimer .
So I picked Barbie first, so I could sit in the theater for an hour before I finished my Christopher Nolan drama.
Although if time isn't an issue, I've heard plenty of people talk about why you should see Oppenheimer first, so you can end your day with Barbie on a happy note.

According to Variety , it is expected to gross between $95m (£72m) and $110m (£84m) in its opening weekend in 4,200 theaters in North America .
However, Warner Bros. is playing it safe, expecting $75m (£57m). Meanwhile, some estimates suggest it could be as much as $140m (£107m).
However, regardless of the weekend, they are still expected to outpace Oppenheimer , who expects to earn $50m (£38m) from its opening weekend in 3,600 theatres.

Flora plays an unnamed young woman whose face is ripped off by a nuclear blast in a sequence set in the mind of Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy).
As for his daughter's involvement, Nolan said it was "nice to have her in".

After announcing the strike, SAG issued a notice to all members forbidding them from promoting future projects.
This means that promotional events for both blockbusters, including interviews, have been cancelled.
"I support all unions and I'm part of SAG, so I'll be on their side," Robbie said at the Barbie premiere in London.
Christopher Nolan gave a similar message of support when his team left the London premiere.
Fortunately, promotion for these films has been so widespread that the past few days have had little impact on their box office performance. Movies coming out in August, including DC Comics' Blue Beetle (released Aug. 18) and Denzel Washington's The Equalizer 3 (September 1), will suffer the most.
