There are several great movies coming out before Labor Day, and one of them will finally hit the big screen (or rock) by the end of the week. The much-anticipated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is about to premiere and the hype surrounding the film is growing by the day. The first trailer, which was amazingly moving, gripped every fan, but the images shared later never failed to impress. Last week, members of the press shared positive reactions to the Spider-Verse sequel, and now full reviews are available online, no pun intended. But what will the critics say?

It goes without saying that expectations are high for a sequel to one of the best animated films of all time. Of course, the question everyone is asking by now is, "Does it meet the standards?" Judging by the reviews that are coming in, it might even surpass its 2018 predecessor. CinemaBlend's Eric Eisenberg had nothing but great things to say about Spider-Verse in his review and a few reasons why he thinks it's the best movie of all time. The Spider Movie:

This is a serious definition, and to be honest, some fans may be skeptical. However, it's not just our critics who hail the film as an improvement over the first Valerie Complex shared similar sentiments in her review for Deadline. He also claimed that the film managed to distinguish itself from other comic book adaptations in one key way:

Joaquim dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Directed by Thompson , Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse continues with a slightly older Miles Morales, now identified as the Defender of New York. He soon reunites with his old friend Gwen Stacy/Spider-Gwen and embarks on many adventures. Along the way, he finds himself on the wrong side of Miguel O'Hara/Spider-Man 2009 and Spider-Man clashes with the mob. THR critic Lovia Gayarki (who enjoyed the film the most) liked the focus on Miles' personal issues, but said there was one element that shook her:

Of course, you can't talk about this movie without mentioning the brilliant animations, and it featured Miles and Gwen Rock in a scene. (Cinemacon audiences enjoyed the moment.) Collider's Ross Bonaime praised the animators for the way the film mixed sounds:

It seems like there's a lot for moviegoers to see, but luckily it's all rooted in character dynamics established years ago. Tom Jorgensen noted this in his review for IGN:

I don't know about you, but now I'm even more excited to see what directors/producers/writers Phil Lord and Chris Miller have in store for us. The film was already on track for a great opening weekend at the box office, but this extra buzz could push it even further. We'll have to wait and see how that pans out, but for now, Spider-Man: The Spider-Verse will hit theaters on June 2 as part of a new 2023 release schedule.
