Varisu Movie Review: Thalapathy Vijay's Film Is High On Comedy And Family Sentiment
Vijay's fans have been looking forward to this film and consider it a treat for Pongal and family entertainment. The fact that Warisu was released alongside Ajit Kumar's Tunivu created much more excitement and anticipation.
Vijay Rajendran (Vijay) is the youngest of three brothers in a family led by Rajendran (Saratkumar), who, among other things, runs a mining company. His other two sons are Srikanth and Sham, who play the roles of Jai and Ajay. The joint family lives together, but when Vijay has a disagreement with his father about joining the family business, his father asks him to leave their home. One day Rajendran is diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and his world falls apart. Vijay returns home after seven years to celebrate his father's 65th birthday and then everything changes. Why did Vijay choose to stay at home and why did his father appoint him as president of his group of companies?
Vijay's decision to do this family entertainer comes as no surprise as he loves to switch gears and act, dance and blast his way through the film in this film. And Vamshi, director Vamsha Padaipala made sure the film is full of family emotion, action, romance and comedy to please Vijay's fans and viewers. Handsome Vijay comes across as a badass businessman which he needs to get used to as we haven't seen him in a role like this for a long time.
The first half of the film has lighter moments, fun and joy, and it is only in the second half that the film really takes off. The film works for the most part, which is what we've come to expect from a family entertainer. There are scenes that could have been cut (with additional characters) to make the movie more exciting and increase the pace of the movie. Some dialogues are nothing special. Despite this, the comedy works very well, especially the scenes and dialogues of Vijay and Yogi Babu.
Warisu's story is reminiscent of what we see in Telugu films (think Srimanthuda and the Maharshi): rich families and a son who returns home to take over his father's empire, against the bad guys and a broken one fight to reunite a divided family into a happy family. . again. Watching a movie creates a feeling of déjà vu. The way the film is shot is also similar to what we see in Telugu theatres; large luxury homes. luxury offices; and all employees were dressed in outfits.
Of course, having a large family together means an excellent cast and actors, and in the case of Varys, there are also many other characters who make fleeting appearances throughout the film. Sham, Srikanth, Sarath Kumar, Prakash Raj, Rashmika Mandanna, Yogi Babu, Jayasudha, Sangita Krish, Samyukta Shanmuganathan, Nandini Rai, Ganesh Venkatraman, Sriman, VTV Ganesh, Prabhu, Suman, Khushbu. Whether all these characters were really necessary for the film is a big question as many of them had nothing to do with the plot.
Music director S. Taman's songs have already become hits and are beautifully crafted to bring technical brilliance to the film. Master Yani's Ranjatame features Taman's excellent choreography and music.
All in all, Vijay's Vairsu is a good family movie to catch this Pongal.
