‘Project Wolf Hunting Is A Disgusting Voyage Soaked In Blood [Review]
It's hard to surprise many of us horror lovers. Because we've spent so much time looking for the next horror movie to haunt our dreams, it seems like we've seen it all. But on the other hand, there is a movie that puts you in a bind and knocks you down with the force of its arterial gush. He is the subject of director Kim Hong-song's new film Wolf Hunt, a vile, bloody and claustrophobic journey on the high seas. Part con game, part Resident Evil game, Kim creates a bizarre action-horror game that hinges on a mind-bending, storytelling revelation set in the depths of hell.
Project Wolf Hunt begins in the Philippines when a group of Korean prisoners are loaded onto a cargo ship. They were caught by the authorities and extradited to Korea on charges of various crimes, from drug trafficking to rape and murder. Each criminal quickly but effectively gets involved, establishing just how dangerous he is. This ship is a tinderbox ready for a massive explosion.
However, the Korean authorities believe they have everything under control. Having been bombed during their previous attempt to bring the criminals back to Korea, they believe they have a perfect plan to bring their accused back without incident. But oh how the roads to hell are paved with good (and bad) intentions. Almost immediately after the ship leaves port, a riot breaks out and a host of dangerous criminals are exposed while the small group of police officers assigned to the ship fight for their lives.
But that is not all. As the inmates, led by the sinister but terrifyingly charismatic Jung Doo (Seo In Guk), wreak havoc, something lurks in the bowels of the ship. Sort of like a twisted attempt to create Frankenstein's monster with maggots wriggling in its mouth. Strapped to a hospital bed, covered in ice, the humanoid creature comes to life as a heart rate monitor and other medical equipment beeps and hums, indicating life resonates in its body.
As the inmates shoot at the policemen and smear blood on the metal walls, the creature wakes up. This is no longer a prison riot; This is genocide. This is no longer the police against criminals, this is people against the command ship, something of a riff. The moves reveal government plots against Korean POWs and Japanese atrocities as courage rises by the minute.
Kim's running time is 121 minutes and he never slows down. Project Wolf Hunting starts off with a bang and never loses its dynamic and chaotic energy throughout its existence. It's an adrenaline rush in your eyes that makes your heart pound until the credits roll. is this funny Natural! That's why it's an incredibly scary experience. And that is exactly what it is: an experience. This is a movie that will leave you gasping, screaming and cheering as every body part is ripped off or every head smashed in a bloody mess.
The Wolf Hunt Project is a movie with multiple endings. And while this often makes the movie feel too long, it works here. Kim tends to the ridiculous and over the top to create a Resident Evil adaptation, giving Paul WS Anderson some serious competition. Just when you think the movie is about to end, another twist occurs or another scenario begins, which again only adds to the Project Wolfgang cinematic experience.
Lee Cronin may boast the heavy use of gore in the upcoming Evil Dead: Uprising , but the Wolf Hunt project gives him the upper hand. For Kim, the human body is nothing more than Play-Doh, a flexible sack of flesh and blood used to create beautiful murder scenes. It may not be for the faint of heart, but The Wolf Hunt Project is one of the funniest movies of the year.
Project Wolf Hunting will be released on digital, Blu-ray, and DVD on February 14, 2023.
