The character first appeared in Robert Rodriguez's Spy Kids , and Trejo later reprized the role in a fake trailer between Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino's Grindhouse double feature. Next up was Machete , a homage to the B-movie work and a sequel that, although less well received than its predecessor, paved the way for other sequels.
The trailer for the third movie, currently titled “ Machete Kills in Space ,” shows the titular character who is sent into space by the Chief (played by Charlie Sheen) to defeat the villain known as “Silver Mask” at the end of “ Machete Kills .” "".
