The Ghost Movie Review: Some Neverseenbefore Slick Action Makes This Predictable Nagarjunastarrer Engaging Watch
Filmmaker Praveen Sataru established himself as a director with a lot of action sense when he directed PSV Garuda Vega a few years back. The film gives old star Rajasekar a new lease of life, and is a revelation in a project that looks truly international despite its limited budget. Ghost pushes the boundaries of what is possible with his latest film Sattaru, creating a mostly entertaining horror action-thriller despite its highly predictable plot. If everything is fine, you can watch the movie Sword Wielding Yakuza to see how handsome Nagarjuna is. It is a sight to be proud of. Nagarjuna plays Vikram, an embittered former Interpol agent. When a kid's life is ruined by his carelessness on a rescue mission in Dubai, he is consumed by guilt and decides to make amends by confronting the underworld. The story quickly cuts to five years later and we meet Vikram's sister Anu (Gul Panag) 20 years later. The call takes him to OT, where the siblings leave behind their bitter past. Anu tells Vikrama that his life is in danger and he doesn't want anything to happen to his son. While Vikram is looking after his family, he crosses paths with many people from his past in Dubai. What happened five years ago in Dubai is the main part of the story when Vikram vows to clean up the underworld and why he is called Mutt.
Ghost delivers what the ads promise, which is smooth action with plenty of violence. It's especially commendable that they tried to pull off a super-charged action movie without spoiling the mass appeal. Sataru takes a very predictable plot and focuses on realistic action. The film takes time to start, but the result is worth it. The film takes inspiration from Hollywood blockbusters like The Possessed and John Wick, but doesn't try to match what those films achieved in terms of action.
As an ex-agent turned ruthless killing machine, Nagarjuna is cool as a pumpkin. He uses his talent to make every shot look beautiful on screen. Sonal Chauhan has got a tough role and few scenes where she can show her fighting skills. The film was a success mainly because it contained unprecedented action in Telugu cinema. The battle in the church with Yakuza swords and Gatling guns is definitely the highlight of the film and worth every penny.
