Review: There Will Be Blood: ‘Project Wolf Hunting Brings It In Buckets
If you're looking for blood (pails, fountains and hallways full of Jackson Pollock-esque Jason Voorhees hands), your ship has arrived. The sea may be mostly calm, but Korean action monster project Wolf Hunt (emphasis on looks) finds the waters just enough to worry you.
The production is a "container prison" on a ship. several Korean criminals are arrested in the Philippines and put on a freighter heading back to Korea. One of the police officers on the plane was a disgruntled veteran captain. The other is a young officer (played by Joon So Min), nothing more. One of the cheaters is the worst of the bad guys (Seo In Guk: you know him from his tattoos); The other is an incredibly handsome young man (Jang Dong Yoon) but he has no description.
Of course, the prisoners will be released, this is a natural thing, after which the slaughter will begin properly. The bottom line is that there is something bigger, bloodier, and scarier than a ship full of killers under inadequate adult supervision. Let's just say that, on a cinematic level, it's a way to channel more violence than this gang of murder-loving Yahoos.
The plot doesn't make much sense, but does that really matter? If you're on this cruise, you're here for bruises (and large arteries). I wish the action had been more thought out, some armed assassins and cops standing by and watching as they crushed their friends' skulls, and it would have benefited from a touch of character. No moment on this love boat can be compared to, say, the twisted part of the sea.
