I'd Not Heard Of This New Horror Until They Released Its Chilling First Trailer, Now It's One Of My Most Anticipated Movies Of 2024
The first trailer for the new horror film Stopmotion is so terrifying that it's now one of the most anticipated films of the year.
I actually only saw the movie this morning. But when the teaser hit my social media this morning, my genre lover jumped at the first chance to play it. I'm glad I did because a dark and bloody nightmare awaited me.
Starring Caoilín Springell, Stella Gannett, Tom Yorke and Nightingale's Aisling Franciosi, Stopmotion centers on animator Ella Blake as she navigates her complex feelings about the recent death of her overbearing mother in her next project. However, everything changes when her little neighbor offers to introduce the monster, Ashman, into her film, and when Ella begins to lose touch with reality, her grotesque characters take on a life of their own.
Robert Morgan, who has already directed films such as Bobby Tuck, Cat With Hands and The Breakup, is working on the screenplay for Robin King. IFC Films, distributor of Stopmotion, was previously responsible for films such as Birth/Rebirth, Skin and When Evil Lies.
“It sounds incredible. “I loved Aisling Franciosi's performance in The Nightingale and couldn't wait to see her in a horror movie,” one fan wrote in the comments section of the trailer's YouTube post.
“Robert Morgan is a brilliant animator, I can't wait to see his style and direction. I wish this got way more traction than it deserves,” said another, while a third added: “I haven't been this excited for a horror movie since No and Speak-Me.
It seems we're rightly excited too. As of this writing, this wild film has a "100% fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes and rave reviews from nine different outlets.
Stopmotion will be released on February 23rd. While we wait for more news on the new film, check out our guide to the hottest horror movies coming out.
