Box Office: ‘Five Nights At Freddys Makes $10.3 Million In Previews
Be careful Mario, another video game character comes to the big screen.
Five Nights at Freddy's, the hit 2014 survival horror video game, is coming to theaters (and Peacock) just in time for Halloween. The film grossed $10.3 million at the box office on Thursday.

The original video game spawned several sequels and spin-offs that were popular among gamers and teenagers. Universal and Blumhourse's film adaptation will capitalize on the "Freddy" craze, grossing $50 million this weekend, although some projections put it even higher. It's on track to have the highest opening of the year for a horror film, ahead of returning franchises like Scream VI ($44.4 million), The Nun 2 ($32 million), The Exorcist: The Faithful ($26.4 million) and others. by Blumhouse. The original “M3GAN” ($30 million).
Josh Hutcherson plays Mike Schmidt, the young security guard tasked with guarding Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, which is basically a terrible copy of Chuck E. Cheese's. However, it becomes clear that the creepy animatronic animals have a mind of their own and are out for blood after midnight. The cast also includes Elizabeth Lail, Matthew Lillard and Mary Stuart Masterson.
Five Nights at Freddy's will also be available to stream on Peacock starting Friday. The random release strategy previously worked for Universal's "Halloween Kills" and "Halloween Ends," which grossed $49 million and $40 million, respectively. The simultaneous release will not prevent "Freddy" from reaching number one on the box office charts. Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour and Killers of the Flower Moon compete for second place. Swift's concert film is expected to gross $13 million to $15 million in its third weekend, while Martin Scorsese's historical drama is expected to gross $11 million to $13 million in its second weekend.
