Best Buy Has A 4K Steelbook Edition Of The Gran Turismo Movie

Pre-orders are now live for the upcoming 4K Blu-ray version of Gran Turismo, the big-screen adaptation of not only the long-running PlayStation game, but the fascinating story behind it. Directed by District 9's Neill Blomkamp, the film is based on the true story of Jan Mardenborough, a teenage Gran Turismo player turned professional racing driver.

No extras have been announced for the yet-to-be-released Blu-ray release, but you can probably expect some behind-the-scenes content, commentary tracks and trailers. The film stars Archie Madekwe Mardenborough, David Harbour, Darren Barnett, Emelia Hartford, Geri Halliwell Horner, Digimon Honsu and Orlando Bloom as the villain Danny Moore.

Critically, Gran Turismo didn't fare particularly well. The racing feature film currently holds a MetaScore of 46 out of 43 reviews on GameSpot's sister site Metacritic. At the time of writing, the user has a Metascore of 7.7, so viewers love it. While many critics have called Gran Turismo a flashy advertisement for the long-running PlayStation game, there is consensus that Blomkamp's performance pays true homage to the video game franchise while creating a variety of spectacular racing scenes.
