Cat Person Trailer: Nicholas Braun's Unsettling PostSuccession Movie Features The Worst Onscreen Kiss Ever

Ah, modern dating. It's an escapism that's mildly disturbing, so it's no wonder we're seeing more and more thrillers about its horrors, from Get Out to Fresh . The most recent was made with the film Cat Parsons with Nicholas Brown. The first trailer of the actor's film after Succession is here, and it looks as romantic as it sounds.

After seeing Kat Parsons at Sundance earlier this year, the film finally hits theaters in October, and here's what we can expect to see. In the clip above, we get our first look at the messy dating story based on the viral story of the same name, and it gives a not-so-cute side to the cute date. I mean, look at the kiss scene... it's probably the worst screen scene of her nature.

Cat Parsons follows Margot (Emilia Jones), a 20-year-old student who works part-time at a movie theater. (Jones starred as the CODA Best Picture winner) . Margot exchanged phone numbers and began a relationship with an older man named Robert (Bran). She was fascinated to learn that he "had a cat" and beautiful eyes.

Even though it was a bad kiss, he continues to hang out with her, even spending the night at her house, but red flags go up the moment he meets her. This is definitely another show from Nicholas Brown's aforementioned Uncle Greg.

This seems like a snarky yet hilarious commentary on the modern dating world as Margot and her friend Taylor (played by Miracle Workers' Geraldine Viswanathan) experience an emotional rollercoaster. As the trailer teases, it doesn't seem like Robert is the person he made himself out to be during their conversation, and he may become quite obsessed with her when she's gone. At the end of the trailer, Cat Person is seen going off the rails in a very interesting and funny way. I cringed when Margot said "one of us must die" - what would happen between the two of them?

The film is directed by Susanna Fogel, who wrote the screenplay for BookSmart and previously directed 2014's Life Partners and 2018's The Spy Who Dumped Me. When Cat Parsons premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, the film received mixed reviews, including critical acclaim. For its "honest portrayal of female angst" in the dating world (according to Oscar Central ), while critic Bloody Disgusting called it a "thematically diverse, quirky and often emotional exploration," for example.

Cat Person hits theaters on October 6. Along with this craze, check out other new movies coming in 2023 here on CinemaBlend.
