'Agrasena ' Movie Review: A Blend Of Action And Drama In This Quest For A Missing Body

Murugash Kanappa, formerly of A Harsha, will make his directorial debut with Grace. The aim of the film is to show the contradictions between urban and rural life, as there are anti-social elements and indifferent authorities in cities. It also challenges the notion that rural areas are totally immune to these problems. Macroscopically, Agracena can be described as a typical action film.
The central theme of Agrasena focuses on the feelings of father and son, which is mainly conveyed through dynamic episodes. The story revolves around Addisesha (Agastya Balagere) who goes in search of her father's body. His father Surappa (Ramakrishna) and Adishesh hail from the village of Ramdevapura, which firmly believes that the city should be avoided at all costs.
Surappa Adishesh even promises never to set foot in the city and gives the same advice to his neighbors. However, unpleasant situations arise when Surappa falls seriously ill and is treated in the city hospital. Torn between fulfilling his father's wishes and ensuring his health, Adishesh enlists Amar Viraj, the nephew of his father's manager, to take care of Surapan in the city. Unfortunately, Amar Viraj takes advantage of the situation and abuses fiat money. The story takes a dramatic turn when Surappa is found dead and his body is brought back to the village.
Adisesha had no choice and reluctantly went into town to look for her father's body. On his journey, he witnessed Amar's misdeeds, including wasting the money entrusted to him. As a result, he takes Amara's lover Rishika (Rachana Dasart) and demands her father's body in exchange. The crux of the story is whether Adish will find his father's body, whether Amar will face the consequences of his actions, and whether he can win back his lost love. The second half of the film is full of dynamic parts and interesting moments.
Agrasena effectively presents the contrast between town and city and immerses the viewer in the events surrounding Adish, her father and their relationship. An unexpected twist involving a missing body becomes the main theme driving the story forward. However, the film falters in the second half, largely due to lengthy action scenes and over-sensitivity that can dampen audience interest. It's great to see that veteran actor Ramakrishna plays a key role and the entire film revolves around his character.
This is his impressive 200th film and his experience shines through as he effortlessly interprets his role. On the other hand, Amar Viraj was able to demonstrate his acting and dancing skills. Agastya Balger, played by Addish, delivers a great performance especially in the film's scenes and plays a central role. Unfortunately, the role of Rachana Darshat offers her limited opportunities to showcase her talent, which is mostly limited to romantic interests.
The director came up with an intriguing story that explained the difference between the city and the country. However, the inclusion of excessive action and scenes of violence make Agracena a typical revenge drama that strays a bit from its original premise.
