A Review Of Netflixs Latest Horrorcomedy, ‘We Have A Ghost
Christopher Landon's latest family film has few plot lines and fails to engage audiences.
We've Got A Ghost is the most popular original movie on Netflix. Directed by Christopher Landon, Happy Death Day features an impressive cast of A-list stars including David Harbour, Jennifer Coolidge and Anthony Mackie.
The film follows the Presley family as they move into their new home, only to be haunted by a deceitful friend named Ernest. In a modern-day paranormal story, a family begins to profit from a ghost's popularity on social media, but everything changes when the CIA contacts their apparition friend. With the help of a neighbor named Joy, the family helps Ernest learn the truth about his past and find peace. A blend of comedy, horror and mystery, this film depicts a touching story of family, friendship and redemption.
What would you do if you found a betrayed friend in the attic? Will you take out your phone and share it with the world or help the delusional creatures find peace? The premise itself is very interesting as we get to see how the family and community will react to the apparition's first appearance. Throughout the film, there is a rift between father and son, Frank and Kevin. Frank wants to make millions from their invention, and his son Kevin wants to do the right thing and help Ernest. This topic is touching and provides great lessons for young viewers.
Acting is one of his strengths in this film, all the actors have performed commendably. Young actor Jahi D'Alla Winston, who plays Kevin, shines in particularly emotional scenes, showing his impressive breadth and depth. Although Stranger Things star David Harbor plays the original version of Ernest expertly, it's disappointing that he doesn't have any lines.
This movie is the most enjoyable offering of horror's most creative moments. The special effects team put on a show to entertain us and the cinematography is very good for a family film. While the film has some standout moments, the core idea that makes it interesting is diluted by a web of subplots and nonsensical dialogue. Comic dialogue, which forms the basis of the tone, is very effective because it focuses on internal cultural agendas rather than audience laughter. Since the basic idea was not explored properly and the comedy was not effective, the film seemed to have little appeal to the audience apart from the visuals.
For family viewing and young audiences, Ghost in the Shell has the potential to appeal to a wide audience thanks to its vibrant performances and poignant themes. Also, it doesn't have compelling dialogue or a clear plot to satisfy the average viewer. Even if you try to turn off your brain and enjoy a touching story about ghosts, the inspiring instructions will make you turn off that screen. If you're looking for a fun supernatural movie to while away a few hours, I highly recommend this movie. For the rest, Ghost in the Shell is a throwaway Netflix original that doesn't help much.
