The Street Fighter 6 Trailers Are Getting Me Hyped To Once Again Pretend I'm Finally Going To Get Good At Street Fighter
© Capcom ZeroThe latest trailer for Street Fighter 6 features Lily, who according to her profile loves cameras and predators, and talks about Street Fighter veterans Zangief and old Street Fighter 4 hero Cami. The video (embedded above) appeared on the Sony State of Play stream this week and is the latest in a series of SF6 18-character releases.
I was never very good with Kami - my game was just "twisted arrow, twisted arrow, twisted arrow" - but I probably did better with him in SF4 than with any other character in street fighting games. So I'm glad he did. (Fun detail: the trailer features Cammy's moves from Street Fighter 2: The Cartoon, illustrated by game designer @SamanthaZero.)
I have mixed feelings here: SF6 looks like a lot of fun, but my relationship with Road Warrior is often associated with painful defeats. Achieving this is a dream I've been chasing and chasing ever since my 6th grade friends beat me in Street Fighter 2 on social media. I vowed to be a good Street Fighter 4 player and practiced for at least a month, so I got comfortable with Kami a bit, but got wiped out by the dudes who didn't seem to be trying too hard and gave up again.
I should know better, but now that SF6 is out, I feel the urge to be a good Street Fighter player again. I liked what I saw when I played Street Fighter 6 last summer and I love the colors after the slightly saturated look of Street Fighter 5. Zangief says something like "My beautiful body is getting better" before inhaling chalk through his nose ?
The release of Street Fighter 6 is scheduled for June 2 this year on PC and consoles and will be available on Steam as usual. Whether this will be good is still unclear, even after our positive impressions, but there is a little uncertainty that I will get something good. At the very least, there's an "addictive single-player mode" where I can escape the stress of online play if I'm hungry.
