SYNTAX :

Ten years after her happy ending, Giselle questions her own happiness, unwittingly turning the lives of people in the real world and Andalusia upside down.

Following the Philippe family and their search for a happy ending in Disappointment, Giselle (Amy Adams returning to the lead role, who could actually have had a better time considering her recent disappointing project) begins to feel lost. . , retaliates by moving the family from city life to suburban Monroeville while struggling to fit in with the locals, most notably the tall and powerful cabal leader Malvina Monroe (the strikingly beautiful Maya Rudolph), who sticks to an established ensemble with sinister plots and naughty music. figure ) Desperate to find the magical life again, Giselle uses her magic wand to transform Monroeville into a fabled folklore town reminiscent of Andalusia in live action (originally taken from the film Bewitched ).

In addition to the hefty budget, Disney credits director Adam Shankman (working with screenwriter Bridget Hales and a story by J. David Stamm, David N. Weiss, and Richard LaGravenese based on the character Bill Kelly) for creating the extraordinarily colorful, professional costumes. the dance choreography, the gorgeous hybrid festival and location sets of real and fantasy worlds, and the stunning CGI when characters appear to fire magical explosions at each other, there's a lot to think about in terms of the implications of this story.

Even after the events of “ Enchanted ”, Giselle is under the impression that by injecting a bit of fantasy into the real world, everything will be fixed (at one point she says out loud that the worst thing is anxiety aggression and nothing else). The rest of the world might be inclined to agree that fantasy trumps reality, but Disenchanted is here to boldly refute that, as Gisele's life takes a turn for the worse in many ways.

In contrast to the joy of animating gear (something that retains a lot more personality than usual when Disney tries to pull it off), Giselle finds herself increasingly estranged from her teenage stepdaughter Morgan (with Gabriela Baldacchino now assuming the role of the rebel group). ). ) ) and slipped into the behavior of the evil queen. It turns out that craving began to corrupt her morale, turning her into the villain of her stories, giving Amy Adams a cunning and hilarious acting challenge to balance good and descend into evil evil. It also allows the script to playfully subvert and satirize the clichés and imagery of such stories.

Disillusioned is also similar to its predecessor, although this time it focuses on the mother-stepdaughter relationship in terms of origins, memories, support and love. As Morgan adjusts to the fantasy world, she also falls in love with Malvina's son, Tyson (Colton Stewart), while trying to ask him out at the next festival. Of course, Giselle forbids it for no reason, because she's just forcing Morgan to do more responsibility since that's what evil stepmothers do. Apparently they also have a loyal mischievous cat who turns into Pip the squirrel (talented voice actor and Shmdown Film Trivia legend Griffin Newman even manages to translate this ability into a different cute voice for each animal).

Gisele's husband, Robert (Patrick Dempsey returns) also realizes something is wrong. He was also given a more playable role as he tried to protect civilians from dragons and orcs. Meanwhile, Edward and Nancy (played by James Marsden and Idina Menzel respectively) arrive from Andalusia to offer their help to Morgan when they too notice that Giselle's condition is rapidly deteriorating. Their performance is created through a beautiful mix of live action and 2-D animation, interspersed with one of Disenchanted 's many irresistible songs, performed and thrillingly evoked by Idina Menzel.

However, the climactic musical number is a sequence in which Giselle and Malvina join horns in a duet that chronicles each other's rise to evil. The song also contains a line asking whether Maleficent and Cruella could be imagined in the same story, which appears to be a useful basis for Disenchanted ' narrative. This approach works, especially to a greater extent than when the third act dives into conventional PC action, though not without hitting a plot point. What was once magic remains magic.
